GEF is funding a Summer STEAM Camp at Beeman Memorial School to get our young students excited about science and technology! The six-week program, which started on July 8, focuses on various aspects of engineering and uses the Engineering is Elementary curriculum developed by the Boston Museum of Science. Each week, students look at a different aspect of this field and are given hands-on challenges where they create solutions to real-world problems (that IS, after all, what real engineers do!).

Check out these photos of Week Two: Shake Things Up--Engineering Earthquake-Resistant Buildings!

In addition to learning principles of engineering and taking part in engineering challenges, students are spending time learning how to write computer code using the kid-friendly Scratch program, developed by MIT.
