Emily Siegel joined GEF in 2021 as Executive Director. A Brookline, MA native with family ties to Cape Ann, Emily has over 20 years’ experience in education as a program director, coach, school-community partnerships specialist, advocate, and volunteer. She took a 6-year detour in 2015 to open and direct a non-profit inn, event venue, and community gathering space housed in an historic school in Ajo, Arizona. Through this work, she built skills in community-building, workforce development, leadership, and fundraising. She returned home to Massachusetts in 2021 and settled on Cape Ann to be closer to family, with her husband Stuart and children Jonah and Bayla, both Plum Cove students. Emily is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds an M.Ed. from Lesley University.
Favorite GEF-funded project:
Countdown to Kindergarten, because it’s such an impressive collaboration between Gloucester schools, non-profits, cultural institutions, and the City…and a beautiful way to welcome new families into GPS.
