Matt Beach is not a native to Gloucester, he grew up in Michigan but left there at age 18 to join the Navy and “see the world” and as the saying goes, all he saw was the sea! After 11 years of service, he decided it was time to “settle” and took a job in Gloucester in 1997 at Varian, now Applied Materials, where he continues to be employed today. Matt was originally hired as an electronic technician but has served in several job roles over the past 25 years and is now helping to lead business strategy through market analytics. Shortly after arriving in Gloucester, he enrolled and was accepted into a management program at Boston University and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in management.
Matt is very active in the community and is currently a sitting board member for the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce in addition to Gloucester Education Foundation. Community service is very important to him, and he volunteers to help other local non-profits on a project-specific, as-needed basis. He has been supportive and involved with GEF since the beginning through relationships with current and former board members, and believes that the solutions to almost any problem is found through education.
