Student Advisory Committee: Selection Process
In October 2023 we are seeking nominations from GHS staff and community partners of students who:
Have thoughts and ideas about education and what it should/could be
Show leadership potential, though prior student leadership experience is not required
Demonstrate an interest in working with adults
Represent the dynamic, diverse students of the Gloucester Public Schools
Note: academic transcripts will not be reviewed or taken into consideration in our selection of the advisory board. We aren’t looking for the straight-A student, we’re looking for the engaged, creative leader-in-progress.
Nominations are due by October 25, 2023.
The nominated students will be contacted by GEF and invited to apply. Click here for the student application and here for a position description. In addition to requesting basic information about skills and interests, the application asks students to respond to the following prompts, either in writing or by submitting a video:
Please tell us about your experience in one GEF-funded program and how it impacted you.
If you had the chance to create a new program within the Gloucester Public Schools to enrich learning, what would you create? Why?
Note: Children of current GEF staff and board members will not be eligible for this position.
Student applications are due November 29, 2023. GEF will review applications and interview selected students, in early December 2023, with a new cohort chosen before the holiday break.
Selected students who complete the term and fulfill our expectations for the role will receive a $300 stipend/term or log approximately 60 community service hours.
